Course No. ML04
Appraisal systems exist in thousands of organisations, yet disturbingly, staff consistently report feelings of not being of value, being taken for granted, never getting praise, never being able to please. It is seldom the systems per se that are at the root of these problems. The people operating the systems, i.e. planning and conducting the interviews, go a long way to improving morale, performance and the bottom line when they enhance their skills in appraisal interviewing.
Active participation is encouraged through group work, case studies and role-plays. Participants are given advice and practice on presenting precise, objective feedback whether the message is negative or positive and leaving the recipient with constructive development ideas.
All who have responsibility for performance management and staff development.
